The Tax Department is responsible for billing and collecting city property taxes, franchise tax, franchise bank deposit tax, franchise cable tax, business license fees, occupational tax, alcoholic beverage licenses, and transient room taxes.

Tax Information and Fees

Demo Cityhas a city property tax rate of .171 cents per $100.00, this has not been increased in over thirty years

Tangible property tax rate of .175 cents per $100.00.

Currently DemoCity imposes a license fee of 2% of the net profits on all business in the city, with a Minimum Fee based on the particular type business. Also, you are required by the ordinance to withhold 2% of the gross compensation paid all employees for work done in DemoCity regardless of where they live and pay this quarterly to the City Tax Administrator.

Contractors are subject to a Minimum Occupational License Fee of $10.00 per year, plus a contractors fee 1/4 of 1% on the total contract price on all contracts taken within the city limits of Pikeville.

Alcoholic Beverage License:
The following kinds of distilled spirits and malt beverage licenses may be issued by the city and the annual fees for each license shall be:

Wholesaler (Distilled Spirits/Wine) $3,000
Retail Distilled Spirits/Wine (Package) $600
Distributor (Malt Beverage) $400
Retail (Malt Beverage) New Applicants $200, Renewals $150
Retail Drink (Wine) $300
